Emma Jean

Emma Jean Bouie is a recent graduate from North Carolina Central University where she received her Master’s in Earth and Geospatial Sciences. Her research interests include geohazards and remote sensing. Emma is passionate about women and blacks in Geology. Emma believes BiGweek is the opportunity to highlight the many black faces that have earned their titles as scientists. Her ultimate outcome is to showcase Blacks in Geosciences, as it will help show younger generations that there are people who look like them in this field as well. She strongly advocates for blacks belonging in Geosciences.

Emma plans to pursue a PhD degree in Earth Sciences. Her professional aspiration is to pursue a tenured track position at a university in hopes to bridge the gap of Black women in Geosciences.
