My name is Dr Craig Poku and I’m an atmospheric and climate scientist based at the University of Leeds, UK. As a black geoscientist, I am excited to be one of the coordinators of our first #BlackinGeoscienceWeek! #BlackinGeoscienceWeek in my eyes is an opportunity for us to celebrate the excellent work our Black geoscientists do. But in addition, it should be seen as a platform for people to connect, network and explore new disciplines within geosciences. We have a number of exciting events throughout the week, ranging from interviews, panel discussions and casual hangouts with people in your field. My recommendation would be for you to get involved, know that you are not the only one and never feel afraid of wanting to be a geoscientist just because of the colour of your skin.”
